Bronte Country
This is on the doorstep of the airport and a visit to the Bronte Parsonage Museum at Haworth is a must for all the fans of this most famous literary family. The sisters Emily, Charlotte and Anne wrote such classics as Jayne Eyre (1847) Wuthering Heights (1847) and The Tennant of Wildfell Hall (1848). The sisters lived nearly all their lives in Haworth from 1820 to 1861.
Henry Moore Institute

Henry Moore (1898 to 1986) is considered to be the greatest British sculpture of the 20 Th century and a proud Yorkshireman. The centre shows his work throughout is life and that of his contemporise.
York Minster
The Minster is over 800 years old and is one of the finest examples of a Gothic cathedral. The stained glass windows are truly magnificent.


Fountains at Ripon

13 Benedictine monks who later became Cistercian monks founded the Abbey in 1132. Following the dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539 by Henry V111 the land was sold to Sir Richard Gresham. Fountains Hall was later built from the stone from the abbey.
Castle Howard
15 miles North East of York is the magnificent 18 th century house set in 1000 acres of gardens, temples, lakes and statues made famous by the filming of Brideshead Revisited.

National railway Museum
Based at York is the world's largest railway museum. The Mallard and a replica of Stephenson's Rocket together with a collection of Royal trains make this a fun packed outing for the family.
